German Spec Front Shocks

Hi All,

I am just looking for some advice on doing the front shocks of my German spec, its a 1994 and it just needs new front shocks, the quotes ive gotten so far are a bit hectic, I would just like to know if any of you know what shocks I could get and where to get and what price I am looking at spending. (Gabriel or Monroe?) etc.

Thanks,
Kind Regards,

Get a quote from imcomex for bilsteins. Dont compromise on your M3.

think im going to have to phone those fekers on monday they not emailing me...

They said to me that their next shipment of bilsteins only comes in on the 30th so they can only give quotations then.

thanks for the advice, im not really looking to fork out heavy prices for shocks, ive felt Monroe shocks on my old E36 325i and I was very very happy, I just want to get the car to feel stock again, the current shocks are finished! Bilisten shocks are not going to be cheap, and I would think those are more for track use? or am I going crazy?

I got a quote from the last year for bilsteins, mounts and bump stops all round for my car and it came to less that 5k. I don't think front shocks alone would cost too much.

ok cool if those are the type of prices we talking about then I will be a bit happier to get them. :) to be perfectly honest I would rather just get all 4 shocks replaced, that way the ride will be perfect. but I need to first see what the other repair costs are going to be for other items that may be in need of replacement.

Thanks for the prompt reply gconry18 :)

Chances are all the mounts and bushings are past their prime too. Good chance to have a good look around and see what else can be freshened up.

I spoke to Ted at imcomex about bilsteins...... front shocks for standard e36 is R2k each, rear shocks are R750 each. So for Motorsport and M3 shocks you looking at a much higher figure..... infact still waiting for him to call me for prices.

@Osiris : BillyBob fitted Monroe sensa trac shocks when he had his M3

I had monroe sensatrac's(all round) on my M3.....the ride was fantastic and their after service support is really good. If you not going the Bilstein route, i would suggest you fit the monroe's and fit new oem shock mounts, front and rear. Makes your car ride like new again :=):

Thanks for the advice, I will definately take that into consideration, I have had monroe before in my old E36 325i and they were brilliant shocks, nice solid ride compared to the crap that was in there before, so I belive in monroe all the way!

i wish i had known about those kits at the time Calypso, when i replaced my rear shocks last year, my rear shock mounts were shot, my car was up on the lift and bmw didnt have stock, i bought a set from the friendly Midas next door at a whoppping cost of R75ea.......LOL ( yes yes yes, i know the price alone shouldve put me off, but what to do, my car was up on the hoist )

needless to say, they didnt last very long, and i had them replaced with oem ones shortly after that.....
