George Old Car Show

I'm not sure if this is allowed to discuss here since it's not an official BMWfanatics event, so please delete if this thread breaks any forum rules.

Is anyone attending the 2017 George Old Car Show on 11 / 12 February?
Their website states:
This year’s special exhibition in the arena area will be dedicated to German cars.
So BMW should probably be well represented.

I attended last year's show for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised. I reluctantly went along with a friend after he nagged me to go, but I am very glad I did. I'll admit to not being a huge classic car fan, but I ended up spending the entire day there, long after my friend wanted to leave :)

I'll be attending again this year, but regrettably I'll have very limited time to do so as I have other obligations for the weekend. I'll try and take a few pics, if there's interest.

If anyone's in the area, I highly recommend a visit.

Got our place booked just outside of Sedgefield. Will be my 1st time out there, so quite keen to see what it's like...

There's a dealer of classic cars in Knysna so stopping there on the way. They were closed the last time I passed through but it looked like they had a few nice toys in there...

Have been there a few times. Have booked my caravan site at Hartenbos from 10 to 20 Feb and plan to be at the show again this year. Nice laid back show with some beautifully restored cars and other machinery.

Unfortunately BMW has not been well represented the last few years. I was not there last year, but the year before that, I counted a handful.

There were a few last year - including an i3 :dunno:.
Would not say plenty, but still.

I'm hoping there might be more this year since there will be a dedicated German exhibition. It was my first time attending last year, so I have no idea if there were more/fewer BMWs in the past.

I would also like to see a few more.

Last time I was there, I probably saw 3 or 4 in total.

A year or two prior to that we had a few more. Some 2002's, 333i, 6 series or two etc.

Only models 1975 and older, unless you are part of a car club exhibition.
Maybe we should try and get the BMW Car club Cape Town to try and get a few older cars into the club so that we can represent.

My 1600 Sport and 518 was not accepted as it's "too new".

We're taking 3 vehicles through, a W108 280SE, Volvo 122S and a genuine Mk1 Lotus Cortina.

Would love to see the Cortina.

As per opening post, I've attended the show this morning from 07:00 until around 10:00. I unfortunately had to leave early due to other commitments this weekend - I've actually changed quite a few plans to squeeze in the 3 hours today.
I have to say that I was quite disappointed with the amount of BMWs on display. I'm not sure if more arrived later during the day, but I had much higher expectations.

I'm stuck at the airport, so I thought I'd upload a couple of crappy cellphone pics. I didn't take lots of pics, but these are most of the BMWs I've seen there, apart from a Z3 (or two), E85 Z4 and an i8 (one of my favorite vintage BMWs, BTW :)).

Overall, it's well worth a visit if you're in the area tomorrow or plan to go next year.

We had a red one of these in the early 80's when I was very young. It's one of our first cars that I can remember. I think ours was a 733i though. Could have been a 735i; honestly not sure at the moment. Brought back some good memories when I saw this one - I haven't seen one in ages.
