General software updates from BMW for my M3?

Hey guys,

I had a chat with a buddy of mine recently and he indicated that one can ask BMW itself (during next scheduled service) whether they could "check for software updates" - and ask them to implement - free of charge.

Im my case, the 2008 M3 iDrive GUI etc will surely look slighlty different from the newer updated models and I've been thinking that i would like to do all software upgrades.

Has anyone ever done this before? Is this really so?

Thx
M

They should do it as a normal procedure - I had my Zed there last week and they did an upgrade it feels more responsive but still cant test her output as the limit the power when the front wheels are stationary on my girl.
But I think they did mine because I was complaining that I felt the power was down compared to similar motors.
Give it a try - they can only say no, but yr car is still under Motorplan.

They are currently doing software upgrades, but this is on the engine management side. Basically installs their anti-tuning software :argh:

I don't think they can update the software on your iDrive/Navigation system. As the new generation iDrive has a different screen and controller. But give it a shot and let us know. :=):

They won't just do it. There has to be a reason. Maybe a recall or service campaign. My voice control stopped working in my M3 and they had to update all modules. They can't just do one. And you won't get the new Idrive gui because the new CIC system is totally different. Hard drive based, different Hi res screen. Different controller etc
