I am looking at installing a aftermarket stereo (wow is that a lot of research as to what is needed and required, what works with what and how), but I have two questions before hand.

Firstly, is there going to be any problems after the installation, like does anything have to be coded by BMW, will I still be able to have my car be serviced at BMW without any hassles or problems.

Secondly, and this is something unrelated to the above, is it okay to have my car serviced at any other service centres other than at BMW?
Will they be able to code/recode/reset etc.
The reason for asking is, currently I only take my car to BMW, which is on the other side of town, but very close to me there's a service centre that I would like to give a go, if they do service BMWs.

I believe they are quite good since they always have a bunch a vehicles parked and in the shop and have heard great things about them.

The first question would be wether or not you're still under motorplan. If you are, BMW is the only option. If you're not, you've got the freedom to go servuce your car anywhere you would like. Pretty much any good service provider can do work equivalent to the BMW dealership. Just know that any parts purchased from BMW will only be guaranteed if a BMW Service Centre fits them.
