This thing looks awesome for a fraction of the price of a go pro... Can Any camera boffins explain the specs in comparison to a go pro?

Tiaan, where did you buy it from?

Ps. The website says anti-shake function, the mount doesn't look very solid though...

just something to note, on the right is says
Video resolution:1440 x 1080,15f/s

while on the left it says
high-resolution (1920x1080 @ 30fps video recording,

that is 2 very different qualities especially in the frame rate. Hope the one on the left is correct.

The angled mounting might introduce some vibration if it is not solid, but one will only know once tested...

Waiting for feedback from Tiaan, I am also interested in getting something like this.

Got the DVR, uploading a day and night video as I type this.

Quality is fair for the price, seems that it will last a while.
Video quality is also reasonable, camera is not too big.

It starts auto recording when you start the car and shuts off when you park.
Supports 32GB Memory Cards, and overwrites when needed.

Havent set the Date and stuff yet.

Uploads available soon

Ok done further detailed testing.

Product look and feel
Made of plastic, it doesnt have a particularly solid feel, but for the price its pretty good. the USB connection was loose and gravity often caused the cable to fall out. LCD was decent but the menu was basic.

Additional items in the box
Quite generous in this department - USB cable, Car charger, plug-in charger, windscreen suction mount + bracket, bag, (faulty) battery, manual, various AV cables.

Connectivity
HDMI, USB, TV, built-in microphone

Price
R699+vat but excludes SD Memory card which is another R200+vat for 32GB Class 4

Video quality
Definitely doesnt do what is advertised on the box. it claims 1920x1080@30fps but in reality its only capable of 1440x1080@15fps. After doing some research, it appears this is due to the device using a Novatek chipset instead of the Ambarella chipset which is capable of the higher quality. Still trying to work out why they didn't package it into a different box. Did they think we wouldn't notice?

You can also run other modes. In 720p mode the video quality is very grainy, but watchable.

I won't post any videos as there are already some in this thread.

Sound quality
bad! very bad!

Features
I didnt use all the features as some didnt interest me, but the ones I did use I will comment on below:
Loop Recording
(as I understand it) Allows you to record in sections. Intervals are 5, 10 or 15 minutes. This feature allows you to save on disk space. For example, if you set it to 15 minutes, it will record for 15 minutes. At the end of 15 minutes, it will overwrite that recording, and record for another 15 minutes and so on. If you want to keep the recording, you merely have to press stop before the 15 minutes is up and it will save that clip and start a new one.

Motion Detection
Starts recording on movement, and stops recording when you stop. At first I thought great idea, but then I noticed it stopped recording at robots. It also took about 20 seconds to get going once I got going. Robots are usually the areas I would want to record the most as they are higher accident zones.

Support
I would class this in the same category as the sound quality.

Summary
A very affordable DVR for your car. Very basic features and acceptable video quality. I have since returned mine to the supplier as the claimed video quality on the box is not matched by the device. This coupled with a number of other irritating faults pushed me to look at other options.
