Hi Guys
Just thought I should post a garage update... I changed 3 cars within a month (it wasn't the plan at all), but it somehow just happened.
I sold the Wildtrak first, beginning of November 2020. Nothing wrong with it, it was an AMAZING vehicle with 83xxx on the clock. I wanted something a little faster, more luxurious and I was over driving a bakkie. I have enough bakkies and trucks in my business, so I can take from the fleet. So I got an 2017 X5 ///M50d with 30000km on the clock. Fully loaded including 3rd row of seats (and I don't even have kids) :fencelook:. What a pleasure to drive.
Then it turned out I played myself :biglol:... I still needed a bakkie. I then bought a 2018 Ford Ranger Super Cab Auto. Pretty basic, does what I need it to do for going on site/rough terrain. Turns out the fleet bakkies aren't that fun to drive.
Then I had a problem of too many cars... 2 had to go at least.
I'm really still sad about selling the Z3 (as the value doubled in the 5 years I owned it), but I wasn't driving it much (200km a month). It tramlined a lot and was just difficult to drive, especially long-distance. I LOVED IT, but I had to let go.
Selling the ///M6 was less sad, but sad nonetheless. She was IMMACULATE. The only LCI V10 M6 I've ever seen in all the years. One of the reasons I sold it was that the car was really designed for the track/aggressive driving. My CLS63s introduced me to something I never realised the M6 lacked, violently powerful motor, but that you can just also put in drive on a day you feel tired and it behaves. The M6 SMG gearbox needed you to change the gears yourself, the auto mode just never felt composed, you always had to be involved in driving it... But what a BRILLIANT gearbox it was. I loved every moment of that car.
This was as good a time as any to go for my ultimate dream car, Mercedes-Benz SL65... It was the perfect replacement for the ///M6 and the Z3. It is both cars combined. So I began to look. The SL65 is a car I can only describe as SUBLIME. It's smooth as silk and the opposite of the 63 motor which is violent and potent. The 65 builds speed so incredibly smoothly and graciously and is a marque of my favourite kind of car, Grand Tourers... The exhaust note is best described as a purring cat (think Leopard etc). I can drive the SL65 to Cape Town with no problem at all. You can never do that in a Z3, you'll be EXHAUSTED when you arrive there.
So below are the pictures. The SL65 is a 2006 with 42000km... One owner (a lovely old man) and full history with Mercedes-Benz. Its a dream come true for me. This completes my engine trinity of a V8, V10 and V12.
