Garage for change of connection rod bearing

AndreasSA

I am looking for a qualified garage to change my connection rod bearings (hope its the right word...bearings between crank shaft and connecting rods) of my CSL. The car has currently 70.000 km and I am a bit afraid to destroy the engine soon cause its a known problem of the M3 E46....

Any ideas in the area of Joburg for me would be great!

Speak to a1exander on this forum.

He can sort your vanos out at the same time, which is an equally important job.

please talk to Peter he is probably the only person I would trust with this job...

we would love to have your car in Axis Engine Works can address the Vanos while in there

Thanks!

VANOS is not as important.....bearings can kill your complete engine in seconds if they start failing...

agreed would just be nice to have everything 100% on the engine...

Vanos, Valve shims and rod bearings would address pretty much all issues this engine has...

Well, if i were you and going to the extent of doing rod bearings, I would do the VANOS and valve clearances as well, and then you know for sure that th engine will perform at its peak ability.

Peter / AKA A1exander rebuilt my entire S54 engine with Vac Motorsports bearings, ARP studs, VAC valves, CP pistons and Horsepower Freaks (Krower) Rods... The man knows his stuff. All torqued to factory spec in correct sequence unless otherwise stated. Piston rings filed to correct size. All gaskets installed correctly.

Watch his work here -- And watch in 1080p HD.

Peter (A1exander) also corrected my CSL's valve clearances and Vanos. It made a huge difference.

Valve clearances can also kill the valves in seconds.

And at R1800 each x24 that is not something you want

Let Peter change the Bearings, Vanos seals + rattle kit and do the shims.

if you doing bearings you might aswell fit the performance bearings from Vac as they are designed to handle more abuse

Andreas if it is your intention to do bearings on the engine I would suggest that you look at the specialist aftermarket for them.

VAC do a decent set for the s54 so you may well consider bringing a set in.
I would equally do mains at the same time and increase oil flow with a modified oil pump.( The oil pump would be and insurance of sorts although not really a pre-requisite)

Equally regular oil changes will ensure a healthy bottom end.
