In which driving mode do you experience the best fuel economy. My 6-er has three modes:

Normal - As it is when you start the car
Sport - Press the sport button below the gear shift
Sport Plus - Press the sport button and move the gear shift left

I might be dreaming but in town I definitely see better economy when driving in Sport Plus.

I have noticed the same... My consumption has decreased from 8.9l/100km to 8.2l\100km after 100km of driving in Drive Sport.

Its less economical in Manual mode when driven in town.

However, on longer runs, i find Manual mode + Cruise Control is the best.

Interesting...the last few days I`ve been driving the E46 330i in DS only, and consumption sitting at 15.2l/100km

Interesting..., is this using sport mode in town? I find it will hold the revs unneccesarily when i am not in a hurry. Maybe I might enjoy it more in your car with that exhaust TONE.

I will definitely try manual mode + cruise control on my next long trip.

Yep, DS is used on my 26km return trip (home to work). This through the busy residential area's of Houghton and Rosebank. Stop streets, speed bumps, traffic and crappy, uneven roads.

Manual + CC on long trips works for me. In 6th, i set it to 130km usually.

I remember one trip from DBN to GP, i fell behind the infamous blue light brigade. Needless to say, i found an opportunity and stayed with them. Constantly slightly above 200km/h all the way. No stops, took me just over 3 hrs and just over close to 3/4 tank diesel. I passed them when they stopped at the Petroport just before Alberton. They where driving X4 4.8, 760li and 335i.

That seems a bit heavy even for town driving:fencelook: I haven't seen more than about 13-14l/100km in town even with a spirited right foot. I normally average between 10-12 in town. But mine is a manual:rollsmile:

Calculated my real world fuel economy today and the result was a nice surprise. The figure is 100% town driving btw.

I took my last fuel up and devided the amount spent by range achieved, times that by 100 and the real world economy is:

14.5l/100km
