Stupid question, but which fuel should i use for a 97 E36 316i?

93 / 95?

Thanks!

cars will always run better on 95.
Better performance and better economy.
On an 1600 engine you most likely wont notice the difference though, so its totally up to you.
95 is only a few bucks more per tank so if you can afford an extra R10 per tank, why not :)

The E36 316i is a 1800 engine not a 1600..

I use 93 Unleaded on my 92 316i & my 2000 E46 318i & all our cars :)

Have tried 95 but there is no noticeable difference. some say 95 gives them more KM's per tank but I got exactly the same..

The handbook says nothing lower than 91 octane.. so 93 wont do harm

I recently acquired a 94/95 e36 318i.

The manual indicates that the engine should run on leaded fuel(These days I suppose LRP) but you indicate that you run your 92 316i on unleaded.

Anyone know if there is any risk in running the engine on unleaded when the manual specifies otherwise?

I even used unleaded in my 1988 318i for the 7 years we had it and had no problems.
