I needed a mechanic to do a service on my car in the Brackenfell area. I work there now so it's the most convenient. My last service was at Zeemax in Paarden Eiland, they were great but just too far, logistically it didn't make sense to go there again.

I did some research on the forum and found Fritz. Forum members recommended him and so I thought I would give him a shot. Plus, he is 5 mins away from my work which is great.

I called Fritz up and was very pleased to hear a German voice on the otherside of the line. He was friendly and very curtious. We arranged the date for the service and he gave me very clear directions to his workshop.

I was a bit nervous while driving there but when I got there, I was met with a garage full of BMW's. That really made me feel at ease. Fritz walked out and greeted me with grease all over his hands (that's a good sign, it means he works on the cars himself). He then dropped me back at the office and collected me later that day once the car was completed.

In my short time with Fritz it came through very strongly that he is extremely knowledgeable and knows BMW's well. He is professional and did a great job on the car. If you're in Cape Town and in need of a good, honest, reliable mechanic, go to Fritz. Phone him on 0832847647.

I guess every workshop has their good and bad stories. I have heard some absolutely shocking things about Zeemax. Specifically an m5 they butchered.

Anyway glad you found someone you can trust.

i have a BMW E90 330i and had some issues.

Fritz was the best, cost and service getting it sorted. He went far beyond what he said he would do.

I would recommend Fritz for any BMW!

Fritz for President!!

Hi,

Do you maybe have some recent contact details for Fritz?
I called the number above, but seems to no longer belong to Fritz.

Yes he knows his stuff as well, workshop isn't the neatest one around but always managed to deliver (decent pricing as well). His number was 083 248 7647. Not sure if it changed over the years.

I know it is quite late in the conversation thread above but I thought I'd take the time to share my experience with Fritz.

I had an issue with my Vibration Dampener and to cut a long story short it seems the incorrect type was fitted to my vehicle AND because of that it started to take out the guide pully (started to make a noise), the tensioner pulley (was making a noise), the fan belt (was starting to wear) as well as my alternator (I had to have it serviced).

I was then given Fritz' card and asked to check him out "this guy knows his stuff". When I got there the first thing that struck me was the broken up BMWs on the lot and upon asking the staff I was informed that they are removing parts from the cars.

Good part : his guys replaced the Vibration Dampener, the guide pully, the tensioner pulley as well as the fan belt and the complete cost for this was R6500

Bad Part : the only NEW parts that I was handed boxes for was the guide pulley [R300 after market price] and the fan belt [R300 aftermarket price]. There were 4 used tensioner pulleys in my boot (they did not even have the decency to remove the pulleys) AND my old crank pulley (even though it was the wrong one) was nowhere in sight.

The kicker : I had a full size spare wheel in car, SO the rims are all 16 inch including the spare even though the spare is a black steel rim. This rim was stolen on of my car an replaced with a "biscuit" type. I phoned the now irritated Fritz a second time explaining the situation and was told that I have to come and interrogate his workers.

Observation from my side : My old crank pulley will be used on someone else's car and that person would be charged the NEW price for that part. The spare that was put in my car still had some spider webs and hardened dust marks - so it must definitely come from one of those cars that are just standing there.

Think twice before taking your car to Fritz and if you do try and take a picture of everything that can be removed (spare, jack, first aid kit)
