I know that RFT's are very expensive
I have had just had a customer, who removed two Bridgestone RFT's S001 size 225/50/17

he is known for err-ing on the side of caution when it comes to replacing tyres, but these tyres still have some life in them.

My guess looking at the "tie-bar" markers, is that there is still another 3mm or more to go before the "tie-bar" markers are flush with the tread, so my guess is 10% life....maybe good for another 5000km's, maybe more, tyres have done 23000km's now

would there be any interest in these ?

I haven't included a price, as I want to gauge the interest first, to see if I should hold onto them, or wether I should throw them on the scrap pile.

looks like a bit more than a mere 10% life ther .. ive seen guys advertise 20-30% life and tyres have already leveled with the ware markers ...

225-50-17 is kind of a " high profile " ..

what car did they come off?

so lgically, if a new Bridgestne runflat cost over R3000, then with 10% remaining, it should fetch maybe R300 ?

Sell it cheap to someone looking for a set to burn on a track? :dunno:

It's something for nothing.

burn RFT's ??...I would have thought that it would be better to burn out a set of cheap non-RFT's

I wouldn't use them in a race of sorts but more like an episode of fun, just tearing them up. If someone has the cash for fun like that, obviously.

Just a suggestion.

if a new tyre tread depth is about 8mm
and you say there is about 3mm left before the wear indicator
lets make the wear indicator 1mm
so you actually left with 4mm in total ie 50%
so not sure how you got to 10%

(The above is what I have learned over the years doing research on tyres and measuring myself - so my figures may be wrong)

surely you must have a tread depth gauge lying somewhere that you can measure properly?

Bru same boat... jump in and grab a paddle.... if you find let me know. I'm keen for used ones as well. Seen sonar for cheap they new but I know they not the best. At R900 it's cheap.

I have a full set used (4) SONAR 255/55/17 just arrived in the shop
Plenty plenty plenty of tread left on them

but

as far as my tyre fitter told me, 2 off them have bad sidewall bubbles

possibly that is why SONAR tyres are so cheap, when compared, due to the lack of sidewall strength
