Has anybody had any experience with a fiat 500, more specifically an auto? Quality of finish? Does fiat still stand for first in all troubles? What's your take?

I bought one in 2012 cause my wife wanted cause it was cute. Was the 1.4 Lounge Auto.

It was written off after 3 months and 2k kms but she really enjoyed it for that short period.

Didnt have it long so cant really speak on the long term quality but the interior was great for a little car. Seemed pretty solid.

For a N/A 1.4 Auto, performance was decent

For a little car, safety was brilliant. Another car hit the Fiat into the centre barrier of the N1 at around 120km/h. Car came to rest on the left emergency lane. 4 airbags popped and quite a bit of body damage. Definitely backed up the 5 star ncap rating. Not a scratch on my wife bar a little whiplash.

Thank you for your input. Buying a small run about auto seems a difficult decision considering the number of choices out there. It becomes more difficult when you keep saying to yourself that just a little bit more buys you a BMW or a Merc etc. budget seems to have grown from 50k to 120k! Need to make a cut off point.
