As long as the gauge shows green then its all good.. I asked a guy one day that was "checking" some for their yearly check.. He says if the gauge shows green then it gets a new sticker saying its been checked..

its not that simple... the powder can settle form the vibrations in the car... so you could spray it and just get air... you should take it out every 6 months and roll it around for a bit

there is nothing better than the firestryker fro a car because they dont need to be checked and the they dont have powder that can settle... they are also small and light while being able to put out a larger fire than a conventional extinguisher...

if you are looking to put an extinguisher in your car i would not even thing of getting anything else...

Once a year if I am not mistaken (just looking at the tags on the ones at work)

yep, once a year to be on the safe side.

checking the gauge,i disaggree to a point as the gauge could be faulty.

would advise putting one in the car as you never know when you need it

a 1.5kg dry powder can be bought for as little as R120 from a walmart owned store like game or builders warehouse ;)

yes but the firestyker weighs about 500g, is the size of a torch and the smallest one goes for 25sec (the biggest one goes foe 100sec)...

a 1.5kg powder will give you 8sec max... and the 1.5 needs to be inspected or it may not work at all...

i will gladly pay more for something that is more reliable, works better and takes up less space...

I had one and Actually used it on another Car.( a BMW 850i) it cought fire in Cape Town on the Foreshore bridge. So the chances you would be using it for your self 10% and some one else 90%

Reading this and just been to check. My one was stolen from under the seat while I was at Makro. Guy opposite reversed into my car and then tried to do a duck, so friend and I ran after him and got him at the stop street. It took a few mins to get the head of security down and by the time I got back to the car, the extinguisher (plus a carton of A4 paper I had placed on the seat) were gone. Of course no-one saw a thing, they jumped out of the car by themselves.

anyone try the fire stick and fire blanket? I just bought myself an extinguisher as well and heard the other two work extremly well?

o and where do you guys mount your extinguishers in your cars? I dont know if having in the boot helps especially in an emergency?
