feels like my tires are loosing grip

Currently i am driving a bmw 135i and ive noticed that after a few strong hard launches my car doesnt grip that well anymore. Is it because they are getting too hot or something ? I cant figure it out anyone know what it could be

Hmm I also have the Potenza's on my 335i.. I drive in Sport+DTC off almost all the time and have gotten used to handling the car as I too suffer from little grip. I suspect a softer compound Michelin would give more grip.. But I kinda like not having too much grip :rollsmile::tiptoe:

think F1GP, where the drivers have to nurse the car for the first few corners, after a tyre change, to get the tyres to heat up, before it only starts to grip
and I doubt that you will ever see the temperatures that a set of racing tyres achieve, to obtain maximum grip

I would start wondering about the tyre pressure rather, a heated tyre means that the air inside becomes heated = higher tyre pressure, and this would mean an over inflated tyre, and possibly also a smaller contact footprint thereafter.

possibly have a slightly underinflated tyre at the beginning of your "launches" , and then let the heat build up will bring the internal tyre pressure up to the optimum

well thats the theory I suppose, IMHO

First of all, racing slicks and road tyres have very little in common, but both can overheat and lose grip as a result, road tyres go off much quicker than race tyres also.

The problem is that different tyres react differently to temperature and pressure, some are very sensitive to change, some are not. That said, you might be right about the pressure.

If you are willing to get a tyre pyrometer and an accurate pressure gauge and data loggers, then you can do some testing for your specific tyre. Short of that it is all guess work.

I also feel that at times those things don't grip lukker. I just got used to them.
When its time for a tyre change, I will give another brand a try.

LOL its fun with no grip but sometimes need to go straight and fast

Yup that made sense to me
