Like all fanatics, I'm sure you've got lots of spare parts lying in your garage, but sometimes it's just not worth the effort for anyone to come see them or for you to drive around to see something someone else has to offer. So what about the idea of a car boot sale.
Basically, a Sunday morning hook-up, where you bring whatever junk/spare parts you have that you're willing to sell, swap or give away. Obviously needs to be realistic - you don't want to carry an engine block around, but reasonably sized items that you think fellow fanatics may be interested in. We could create a thread with the stuff people are willing to bring, to give other guys an indication of what to expect.
Let's keep it car-related too, so new "flea-market" type of junk (e.g. cell phone covers, socks, etc) - just spare BMW parts or related car items. I guess we can use our discretion, without being prescriptive on rules. If we make it an official forum event, obviously forum advertisers would be able to bring their stuff too.
The only challenge I can think off is a venue that is private enough to keep out the "man on the street" but be open to any fanatic. You obviously don't want a complete stranger that's walking past to come pry in your boot...
I'm leaning towards an empty office parking lot somewhere in Midrand (as it should be central for both PTA and JHB guys) and normally dead quiet on Sunday mornings without any pedestrian traffic.
We can make it an official event, if there is enough interest.
Suggestion on the idea and possible venue alternatives please?
