F30 Service Intervals

Afternoon Guys,

Hope you are well and geared for the new week.

I wanted to find out if i can take my car to BMW for an AD-HOC service under motor plan ?

I have a F30 328 and the service intervals far apart, I know BMW services are based on how you drive etc and not a fixed KM like most cars, but my last service was 15000km ago and my service schedule still says i have 18 000KM before my next service.

Is this normal ?

Hi Junz,

This is possible.

You can take it in and service it now but it would be for your account. There are clients that like doing "in-between" services on their vehicles at the dealers, all that happens is that the account if for the client and the service indicator doesn't get reset, only get reset on the "official" service.

Motorplan will allow it to be serviced only under certain conditions (petrol model):
1. It indicates it is due.
2. It has done more than 27 000km since the last oil service
3. It is more than 2 years since the last oil service and doesn't show it is due yet.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Would you recommend that we do OIL changes every 15 000KM on our own costs ?

assuming we are planning on keeping the car for the long haul.

Yes, of course.
Or at the yearly interval...whichever comes first...

Hi,,

BMW have actualy reduced the service intervals on the latest models to 20 000km for petrol and extended the diesel to 20 000km.

Hi,

I have seen on some of the later cars on the build list it indicates 20 000km interval. This is for the "B" generation motors which came out after the LCi was introduced.

PM me a vin and I can check on the build list and take a look if you like.

Regards

HI Guys

I got off the phone with BMW today to book another "in Between" oil service and the service consultant sounded very confused and mentioned that if I request that BMW dont reset the service indicator for the in between service then a comment will be added to the CAR, which BMW may use against me later on if i have a claim.

Is this true ?
the oil special that BMW is running at the moment, is it only for BMW's that are out of warranty ?

They gave me the same story about adding a comment. So I simply bought the oil and filter at the bmw parts department and changed it myself. When it came service time, they had no idea that I had done an interim oil change myself.
