So I bought a 2012 F30 and it came with poverty spec sound... having driven various marques with standard sound I didnt think this would be a problem but holy jingle bells, sound in my F30 is rubbish!

Is there any BMW approved sound upgrade options? This really is the only think spoiling an amazing car.

Don't BMW have a Harmon Kardon sound upgrade?

Oh please tell me they do. I honestly dont mind paying extra for it, i just need to give my ears a bit of distortion relieve.

So the question should thus be, can the Harmon Kardon upgrade be installed now through my dealer? I know you can spec the car with it, but thats obviously a bit late for me :thumbdo:

You can get it upgraded as it's for sale separately also.. :)

I have the hi-fi loudspeaker system in mine which is something like 9 speakers with the amp and it's not that bad.. well to me it isn't..

I can't remember what the harmon kardon prices after market though.. I think it's somewhere between a 9-12k thing.

As far as I know they wont do a HK post install upgrade... I had a mate try with his e46 some years back when they were current and the answer was "no" . Not sure if that has changed. Also, bear in mind what they are going to charge you for HK!!! If memory serves it was around a R8k option fitted as std back then.... hate to know what it is now.

HK is not available afterwards, but they do sell a BMW/Alpine retrofit for the F30. Phone the dealer and ask for the Alpine retrofit system.

There are ways of going non-dealer aftermarket :fencelook:

That's all I'm saying, and you didn't hear it from me :fencelook:

Sorry it seems like the harmon kardon aftermarker has been removed from the options list so they might not wanna do it.

So graan there is correct... sorry man

The money you would spend on any HK upgrade will be much better spent on quality aftermarket components. And you will still have some leftover change too.

Lol, quite sad how they put such rubbish in as standard. Surely it can't cost that much more to order quality stuff in bulk to fit to these cars.

I did an Alpine upgrade on my 130i, best thing I ever did, transforms how the car sounds.

I totally agree with you on this.... you spending money on a "premium brand" at a "premium price" but yet a budget VW Polo comes with a great sound system and a couple of speakers that would kick the stock BM systems ass in a sound off!!!

The HK sound system is awesome if you are a non audiophile but I have to agree with the other guys...if the motor plan would not be affected rather opt for an aftermarket system.

Right, BMW does the Alpine sound upgrade for the F30 - R10 400 (including VAT) excludes fitment (2.5 hours). :blab:

This upgrade is not even negotiable, just waiting for the dosh to come in!

BTW - M Sport exhaust for 328i = R9 000.00
