Please tell me if this is normal :fishwack: on my car when I put it in park and apply the hand brake the car moves a bit which is worrying if there is a wall ahead of me. I am not sure if this is normal or the hand brake needs to be adjusted:cry: its an automatic transmission.

Its normal. I think all cars that work with handbrake that has brake shoes and drums. Handbrake shoes are in the drum part at the disc brake at the rear do this.

If I park on a slope, I usually put it in neutral, apply handbrake and then put it in park so that the handbrake grips and takes all the strain - but yea, it does roll a little if I use the normal approach.

:+1:

Always let the handbrake work that way especially on incline, you'll notice when starting up and leaving u don't get that heavy click when realeasing "P"

When parking, do not expect your gear to hold the car.
this is why, you place foot on break pedal, pull up handbrake lever, then put car in park, then take foot off break pedal

seems normal, but nobody actually asked how much is a bit, mine moves about 3-5cm. if yours moves much more than that i'd be worried.

yep, this protects your gearbox, so that when you pull out of park, you don't hear/feel/grit that grinding sound/feel. Its a smooth click into drive.

Also, just ensure that the co-driver brings the car to a FULL HALT before changing from reverse into drive for example or vice versa.
Its not the same as a manual, where you push in the clutch while the car is still rolling back, and then into 1st.

Full halt on brake pedal, press button into desired gear.

over time, and trust me, this will protect the gearbox, and prevent your car lurching forward when pulling up the hand brake.
