F30 driver's and passenger seat swap

Hi all

Was wondering if its possible to swap the driver side front seat (the leather upper part, not the adjustment mechanism and base) with the passenger side (front)? In terms of the uppers they do seem identical.

My 2012 F30 has some wear on the driver side seat (normal) and the passenger seat is near new. So though why let the passenger have the privilege of the newer seat :biglol: let me swap it to the driver side!

Anyone with experience doing this?

Have also wondered about doing this but not sure how much work is involved. Was even thinking of swopping over the whole seat as i have manual adjustment in my car, so having the controls on the tunnel side should not be a beeeg problem.

Don't have a solution here, but I would think a swop on the top part would not be simple, as surely the cogs and mechanisms would be on a specific side, so would be non-interchangeable. As for a complete swop, if the adjustments are manual, I think that might work, just be difficult to adjust when needed.

Have you not thought of rather refurbishing the seats? I am sure that would a more feasible option. I'm sure there are some good upholsterers out there who can re-cover or renew the seats to look new (whether material or leather).

Thanks guys, yeah luckily I also have manual adjust so that does make things simpler. :ty:

I will probably remove the passenger seat and have a look underneath at how the leather upper is connected to the base. If its just some fasteners then I will give it a go!

Btw does anyone know what a good set of Torx bits is to have for DIY on the F30s? In terms of which sizes are mostly used? :hammerhead:
