BMW has Quality control measures.... :fencelook:

Unfortunately it didn't find its way to your car :p ? Sorry to hear about that by the way, hope it gets sorted out.

On topic, I saw the new 320ds going for R500 000, at that price the body work and interior should be gold plated.

I disagree , currently driving an F30 320d modern line with wood trim . It's really comfortable and pretty solid . They are some drawbacks but definitely stronger than my E46 .

i dont see how a R500k "entry level" car can be made cheap... when other brands out there can produce an equal quality build and sell it for R350k...

that is why i dont own a new car. just cant justify the asking price for the amount of recycled milk bottles inside...

500k is not really "entry level"....

Agreed. The 320i costs R364k and the 320d costs R391k (rounded off to nearest thousand). These are entry level, closer to R500k would be the 328i and the 335i and I dont think that would be considered entry level.

I for one like the interior.

Cars these days are designed by accountants not engineers :argh:

I might agree with the OP when he says there could be compromise on the build of the F30. There was a thread about BMW saving costs on the E90 LCI. e.g. the missing boot-lock, no ash-tray for the back passengers, wiper-arms, standard nets behind the front seats, the torch inside the cubby-hole, optional pedal lights.

So it might be true that there is a compromise in the material?

BMW interiors do seem to be a little behind Audi in terms of looks/presence.

That said Im not that fussed about interiors. Its more about the drive for me. I like the seating position and the simplicity of the BMW interiors.

Have you been in any of the new Audi's?? I thought I was in HI - FI corporation during a xmas sale special! lol. Very fancy and all that with different colours and buttons for bloody Africa. But also quite plasticky and superficial if you will.
