Spent about an hour with M_Diesel yesterday afternoon, poking around in his loan 335i (Luxury Line) and here are some random impressions of the car:
- Engine and sound is fantastic. Car has impressively linear power delivery and a pleasant "meaty" engine sound. 8 speed box is very good - almost seamless gear change.
- Interior is a nice place to be, especially in luxury trim. This car had lots of bells and whistles from navigation to extended cluster to HK sound to all round camera's to lights package, etc. Not sure exactly what's standard, but this car certainly impressed me with it's toys. Feels a lot more like a mini 5 series than an evolved 3 series as far as interior goes. Yes, we checked for rust under the seats and did not see anything :fencelook: The cluster also looks very cool with all the additional little features - however, you get impression that this is a partial LCD cluster at night. A little bit incomplete in it's execution toward going full LCD one day (if that makes sense).
- Exterior - personally, I don't like it. FWIW, when I had my E46, I hated the E90, and now I love it. I think it will be the same with the F30. Just need to give it time to grow on me I guess - just like all previous 3 series, I think this car needs the M sport to look good. Funny, how the more these cars change, the more some things stay the same.
- Ride quality - on the luxury line, I think it's cr@p. Compared to my E90 M sport, this car felt too "floaty" for a 3 series. However, I'm unfairly comparing my E90 M sport suspension to the F30 Luxury line - I'm sure the sport/M sport rides a bit firmer.
- As an evolution of the 3 series I'd happily buy it in a few years time, but it needs the right spec. For me, a 3 series needs the M/sports pack - it needs to be a luxury sports car, not the other way around.
