I am not reading much on this, been trolling for a while now.
I am concidering software and something done on the exhaust, has anyone done this on the forum yet? Know of anyone?

Car has done 70k km, so almost done with motorplan which is the reason I am starting to get all my ducks in a row. There really seems to be little info for the 330d, especially with remaps.

That's because there won't be much modding info on the f30 yet as most like yours will be on motorplan. It will be the same as any other 330d which there is tons of info on the forum for.

I know there is not much info, the reason for my thread.

Which other 330d's? E90's? I do not think its applicable.

Sorry, I do not understand what you meant and am not sure if its relevant.

How is it not applicable? It's basically the same engine? Even the e46 the modding is all the same.

Most would do software and downpipe and leave it there. Maybe egr delete aswell which is generally done in software.

Then if you want to go further. You can upgrade the intercooler. 76mm pipe from the downpipe to the rear with the biggest silencer you can fit at the back.

After that your looking at bigger mods like water meth. Upgrading the turbo and boost pipes. Upgrading injectors. Fuel pumps. Etc etc.

It all depends how far you want to go with it. And how much money you are willing to spend. But the modding principles are the same with any of the 3.0ds

Sorry DieselFan. I am pretty much assuming the reason remaps are so scarce is because they havent been done much yet. I know with Mercs they struggle a lot to "break in" to the software. As I understand it also this is always the issue with a new model...getting access to the software. So I am assuming this to be an issue and also the reason why I am saying E90 info is not relevant.

I understand (roughly) the rest of the upgrades which will each be a step up on the previous. I will basically just be looking at the software and decat/full exhaust.

Therefore I would like 'good' software (read safe).

Sidenote: I have found my car a lot slower when cold. I know not to drive a cold car hard but shit happens. so I think it has a built in safety for cold engines-maybe lowering boost. Features like this or other unkown ones I believe will be lost with a plug and play.

People have been able to get past the encryption. The reason they are scarce in SA is more a motorplan issue. It's best to speak to your desired tuner about whether they can do it or not and the gains you'll achieve.

Most bmw diesels are weaker when they are cold. The f30 320d,x3 3.0d ,e90 320d and e46 320d were all diesel bmw's that I drove that didn't run as well when cold. So I highly doubt it has to do with some sort of safety.I think its actually just caused by diesels not running as well as petrol engines do when they have not yet reached operating temperature. So I doubt that software would change this in any way.Just my 2c
