Hi guys. Newby here. Need some advice please.
Unfortunately my 2013 f30 320i engin failed with 180000km on clock. Had it towed to dealer that diagnosed engin failure suspect cambelt stretched and found metal shavings in the oil filter. They suspect further damage in engin. They quoted complte new block and internals which will cost way more than vehicle is worth. Please assist with suggestions of reputable workshops midrand area that I can take it to, to have the motor redone. Thanks. W

not completely uncommon with the 320i.
I recall this topic being covered often.
many guys find a replacement engine for cheaper than re-doing the current engine.
I would weigh that option up first.

Definitely go for a second hand motor instead of repairing the current one.

Jhb guys can advise on a workshop.

Try Ross Duncan in Midrand. Alternatively Grease Monkey or S&N Auto in Centurion.

I'd just get a second hand engine and thereafter take the car to WeBuyCars.

...cambelt stretched?? Failed chain guides, or clogged oil pickup from sludge build up most likely. Sorry man, best look at a second-hand motor.

Second hand motor and have the preventative work required on an N20 done on it when you fit it. You have no idea how many real miles are on the used motor or what condition it is in.

180000 is more than many get out of the N20 before they see such issues.

Ross Duncan is a good option.
