Hi gents.

The past few days I've been smelling a bit of a diesel smell inside the cabin. Not very strong but definitely unusual.

Any ideas of what to check before taking it in to be checked out? Is it perhaps a common thing on F30 diesels?

Is it a diesel smell or more of a sulphur/burning smell?
DPF regeneration has the latter smell.

Definitely not a common thing buddy. Mine doesn't, I only smell the bmw spray thing that comes with the new cabin filter  :smilebounce:
If you smell diesel, have the car checked out

Nah I know it's not a normal thing, it didn't do it until last week. I meant is it something that happens on these models or something that happens often enough that people know what the usual culprits are

Not the same car, but on the M5 I once I had a raw petrol smell sporadically and they replaced a filter and valve at the petrol filler cap. It resolved the issue.

Might be worth searching for issues around that as well - or investigating the area when you are experiencing the smell.

Had a similar issue awhile back. Check and see if you have any drops of fuel when the car is parked. Mine was a fault on the fuel line and had the pipe replaced under MP.

Just an update for reference. Took the car to my mechanic and he replaced a fuel line that was broken/leaking. All good now, no smell, no fuel leaking out anymore. Thanks for the suggestions to everyone who commented.
