People might say that say that the 320i is ''only'' R30k more than the 316i, but lets be honest, R30k is alot of money, and it is the difference between making or breaking a monthly budget w.r.t installments, insurance costs, etc.
Its also the difference between sitting behind the brand new wheel of a VW Golf or F30 BMW.

This is true, if this was you reasoning I can understand it.

But those that then do have the 40k extra and take the M-sport or / and other extras on top of the 316i base instead of taking the 320i, doesn't make sense

I agree 110%, I would rather have a minimally specced 320i than a fully specced 316i, but thats us, ethusiasts. For the average person just looking for an entry level BMW, Sat-nav or Msport package would be much more appealing than the extra 35kw or slightly quicker acceleration that they would probably never use anyway.

I suppose we can never judge people for choices they have made, but we can sure as hell criticise them...

There will be a lot of de-badged F30s running around in the near future :fencelook:

A bit like the F10. A debadged 520i could be seen as a 520d, 523i, 528i or even a 530d.

Guys

With the petrol price nearing +/- R20 in future seems the 316i gets more votes now. I wonder how it compare to a 320d as a daily.? :eek:mgwaiting:

Its no where near a 320d in terms of consumption but remember to take the price difference into account between the 2 cars into account. You first need to recoup that before you will actually save on the diesel. It takes mighty long.
