F20 116i Consumption

So saturday morning we took the 1 down to PMB. The ride was comfortable, and smooth except for the consumption. I don't know if its the fact that I'm coming from a diesel or what...but doing 30km/h - 45km/h above the national speed limit proved to be a pain for my eyes which were busy looking at the petrol gauge  .

I then tried the eco-pro and I had no idea what that thing does, but I saw that when doing anything below 130km/h seems like I was saving some fuel but anything above was just not good. That tank gave us 680km :( then I gave up in driving the car.

On our way back my wife was driving and I was the navigator and I tell you it responds differently to her than to me. She was just flying from PMB to JHB and consumption was 7.0l. I enjoyed being driven for once, and therefore I shall no longer drive the 1 on long drives.

Lovely car overall!!!

Eco pro doesnt like going over 130kmph, but is the most fuel effecient on long trips. i've managed flat 6l/100km avg from dbn to jhb in my brothers 118i..and the car was loaded full
(130 on mostly cruise control)

probably depends on your driving :)

time to get a F30 320d then

How is your consumption in the 20d? i've seen stats, but dont know anyone actually driving it in one of the new shapes..
Its the same engine as previously model range right? if i remember correctly it won quite a few awards for being good engine

Thats pretty good fora 116i f20
On a trip to PA from CT in my moms f20 125i I only get 480km on a tank and I drive only 10-20km above national speed limit

7l/100 is not bad:thumbs:

Been driving a diesel for 4 years, so I guess I still need to adjust.

damn!! I ususally average 550km a tank in town driving with mine. eco pro on the open road, over 700km.

7l/100 going uphill from dbn inst bad at all for a petrol car i think.

The F30 320d uses the same N47 engine as the E90 LCI. Very good engine, I average 3.8-4.2 on long open road trips in Sport+ @ 130Km/h.

The consumption for the 116i I see here seems on par compared to the 118i but have not taken the F20 on any long road trips so can't really comment. Leave ECO Pro mode - keep it in Sport on the long trips as I have learnt in my diesel.

Does the consumption improve on Sport mode than on Eco Pro?
