Doubt those old autos can handle that power. I would look at a 2jz engine swap. Or like Alexander said. V8 but then you may as well sell and buy a 540 or m5

Don't really want to put a Toyota engine in a bmw badge wouldn't look nice on my hood and we don't have a e39 m5 touring in south africa so no go on the sell and by option just looking for a tuning shop in the western cape that can help with my modifications on my car love my e39 touring! And as far as the engine swap loom gearbox just to much headache with supercharger if gearbox breaks thats all i change won't know till it all happens so is there a tuning shop in the western cape that you guy's know off that you could recommend quality and service!

O before i forget i had a mishap will my gearbox a year ago got stuck in mud tried to rock her out and damage the gearbox had no reverse so zf quoted me 22k for repair and bmw quoted me 38k for new box, so she isn't such an old auto!

One more thing i thought i should explain how i feel about my car 2002 e39 525i touring with 180 000km on the clock she has new shocks break disc pads sensor new gearbox sprayjob still have to fit the 20inch aline rims haven't had time service before necessary if some thing goes wrong she is sorted on the spot! I love my car and am a bmw fanatic at hart had a 2006 e60 530i before her awesome car still perfer my e39 525i touring over the e60 just want more power!

Yeah 2jz is the ok route to go if you don't know what to do with a bmw engine.

Personally i would go the following route

1) auto to manual conversion
2)vf engineering sc kit, get a stage 1 and the upgrade it with the rest of the parts locally yourself :coolShake: i recall you at the coast so you don't really have to worry about pressure loss on the sc and can boost a decent amount :=):

Swap in a M54B30 into it first, its a relatively cheap and simple conversion to do. I did so to my bother's 2001 525i touring a few years back and it made the car alot more fun to drive and yet still return the same gas mileage if not better, now my dad wants the same conversion done to his 2001 525i touring.

Once the 3.0lt conversion is all said and done and you get used to the new found power and torque, then look at importing the ESS TS3 kit. You will get even more power and torque from the kit because now its going on a 3.0lt and not a 2.5lt.

To add, VF Engineering use centrifugal superchargers which don't offer the performance needed for a daily driver, they are better suited to race cars that constantly sit in the upper RPM limits.
Twinscrew superchargers offer way better gains for daily drivers as they produce maximum boost from idle, Kyle you have made the right choice in the supercharger kit you desire, stick to your guns as it shows you have clearly done your homework on the subject.

No problem! Best place to pick up a low mileage M54B30 would be from Japan Auto Trading as they usually have way less mileage on them compared to local scrapyard's motors. Other items needed would be E39 530i airbox with air flow meter and one or two other small items, will use your current ECU and have it recoded to 3.0lt spec.

The selling off of the M54B25 afterwards will recoup most of your costs.:chef:

id sell it and get a 550i,
same fuel consumption your going to get with the charger

even tho you've spent a lot of money already you won't get that money back unless you keep the car till you die
