ESS Tuning supercharger kit N52

Hi guys,

Was looking at the net for some info and just generally browsing, and remember reading a couple years back that people couldn't "crack" forced induction on the N52 series of engines,
Something to do with the ecu or valvetronic, ( can't remember now exactly, it eludes me, but maybe someone could shed some light on this )

I just recently read a few threads on some international forums dating back to around mid 2014 about ESS tuning developing a working/functioning kit for the N52 series engines,
I also read of one or two other companies like Arma who also did but they don't have the reputation of ESS tuning,

What I wanted to find out is:

Can anyone here confirm or has evidence that force induction kits are available and work for the N52 series engines?
Anyone done this?

And info would be much appreciated,
Thanks

If I recall correctly, it was in 2014 during a visit to RGM, I noticed a early E90 330i being worked on, Rob confirmed that they were charging it and that it was the first one in SA as far as he knew.

Go have a chat with Rob. Mind you, given the exchange rate, RGM might actually be reasonable in terms of cost.

A couple of weeks back I saw a video of an E60 M5 with an ESS Supercharger (I don't know how they managed to do it) and it was making minced meat out of the E92 M3 and F10 M5. I don't know how legit that video is but if I can find the link I will post it up.

Check the ESS site, they offer a bolt on kit.

ESS N51/52 VT1 Supercharger system (Gen.2)
Don't superchargers have adverse effects on the engines/components?

If over stressed, yes.

PS' it not an uncommon practice to fit aftermarket boost, some installations require forged internals, this if you want to yield huge power. Other systems bolt onto stock motors.

if you look at the cylinder pressure curve on an NA engine it is a short sharp burst

a boosted engine spreads this combustion pressure out more than NA (short answer) so similar force on components is produced over a longer time making the torque

this is how an NA engine can be boosted and produce more power to a point without parts failing

n52 charger kit link http://esstuning.com/ess-n51-52-vt1-supercharger-system-gen-2/
what I can gather its a kit for the n52b30 motor compatible with
E8X(125I,130I)
E9X(325I,328I,330I)
E6X(525,528,530,630)
Z4 MODELS

looking at +- R67 000,00 WITHOUT SHIPPING AND FITMENT :YesNo:

for an extra 80- 100 HP

KIT INCLUDES :
Vortech V3 supercharger: This supercharger system incorporates the Vortech V3 self-lubricating supercharger unit running 6-6.5PSI boost. With a completely sealed supercharger system there is no concern of having to run additional oil lines to and from the engine. Also, the V3 supercharger is a much quieter unit than previous models.

-Larger Bosch fuel injectors with identical spray pattern and angle as OEM to ensure 100% perfect driveability with valvetronic reduced valve lift.

-Custom molded silicone discharge system.

-Custom molded plastic intake assembly with direct connection for PCV, ICV and MAF sensor.

-Billet CNC main SC bracket made from high grade aluminum and anodized to a perfect black finish that will look excellent for decades to come.

-CNC precision pulleys and beltdrive system.

This system comes with an ESS E-Flash OBD2 cable. This allows the end user to upload the supercharger ECU software directly to the car from any PC running Windows XP or newer. The system also includes full diagnostic and code clearing capability. Any future ESS software updates can be received by email and loaded directly to the car. The stock ECU software will be saved and can easily be restored in the future.

I hate when people say this but…You're better off upgrading the car.
I'd say get a 335i/330d and mod or get an S54 and when that's not enough, supercharge the S54.

The ESS supercharger upgrade on the S85 is more common than you might think!
They make in excess of 600whp on low boost utilising stock internals:tiptoe:
