Engine and exhaust sound increase ?

Hi all,

So my car went to in last week for what should have been a service but it didn't happen, in any event there was a big whoosh sound on wot, no power loss just this loud unwanted whoosh sound. initially they thought it was a boost leak when we drove it however

BMW say absolutely nothing wrong with the car on further inspection, I get the car back on Friday and it sounds seriously different, a lot louder, when cruising there is a very distinct (m3 v8 cruising sound, not as pronounced but it is there) not outside but definitely inside the car, the exhaust sounds A LOT more aggressive than before

So went to the ice cream meet on Friday, it continued and has remained like this.

Any thoughts on the reason? Something wrong with the car?

Yes it is better to get it checked at another dealership. Try Sandton Auto.

Also - Try running your fingers around the plastic welds of your chargepipe. There could be a hairline crack around one of those welds thats causing you to have a louder sound

It is a good problem... Just don't want bad problems as a consequence.

The car is finally going in for a service Tomorow so will get them to check it out

A problem for sure. If they still cant trace/fix the problem...give me a call after the service...we can trouble shoot together. Rennzport has a good agent in GP that can also assist.
