Well, an electric motor makes its maximum torque from zero rpm, so I reckon tyre ripping power (um, torque) slide are very much the case! The single biggest problem with an electric car that has to charged is the fact that charging usually take a lot more than just a few minutes, or hours even - it's not like when you are out of fuel and quickly go and fill up at the filling station. But, I did see there was an article in this month's CAR mag about wireless (induction maybe) charging of future electric cars. So I think the idea is that you most likely park in a "powered" parking spot and therefore charges while you are away from the car. Probably have some sort of way of debiting your electrical account and will have a way of identifying each car with a sim card or something along those lines - pre-paid charging??
It's basically a case of having the infrastructure put in place and making this as practical as possible for the general public!
