Electric Seats

HI ppl

I need sum help i drive a 325ci 2003 model with electric seats, this morning the passenger seat back rest went all the way down and now cant get it back up. So my question is where do i start looking for the problem

Frustrated...............:yuck:

If you have access to a computer with INPA and a diagnostic cable you can try moving the seat using the software which would eliminate the problem being with the motors etc. Might be the switch pack on the side of the seat.

If INPA cannot move the seat then the problem is more challenging and would require more detailed diagnostics.

Looks like the motor its running all the time can hear a click sound, disconnecting it for the time bing :cry:

Yep its the motor, just got quoted R 4300.00 for the motor any ideas where else i can look for the electric seat motor:cry:

had the same issue no my car when i had it cleaned. Turns out the people moved the seat completeley off the rail. Try and move it alot forward. That helped my problem...

9 times out of 10 it is the worm gear in the reclining mechanism that has disintegrated. The problem is that this worm gear is not available as a single small piece of plastic from the agents. Whoever is repairing this in Durban will be using scavenged worm gears from other broken seats to effect the repair. The E36 M3 seats were particularly prone to this problem.

If you can get it repaired for R1k you should throw money at the problem sooner rather than later, supply of used worm gears is bound to dry up in the near future.
