Elbow grease the weekend

sooooo, I didn't take a before pic because I was too excited to get started with the clean or polish of the rims. the rims were cleaned up and the lip was high polished some years back but because of weathering and neglect, the rims looked a tad worse for wear.

so I washed Betty and gave her a nice once over. Prior to this I had asked various guys how to bring the shine back and everyone said, have it redone and then one of my mates said, try some brasso.. I wont forget how I sneered and said, okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay..

sooooo off to the shops I went to get some brasso.

well.. I spent little over 2 minutes on the wheel with some elbow grease.. and the results were crazy.. it cleaned off the brakes dust and the pitted marks.

I really need to do a re-spray and get her ship shape

thanks gents.. I really appreciate it:inlove:

brasso also cleans off that yellow heat stain on the rims and that black brake dust marring from the rims and also takes the yellow staining off the tails pipes..

bro.. I agree 100% with you.

now, I always wash the cars myself but this one day i was pressed for time and decided to take my vrous car to the carwash. They hit me R85 for a wash, vacuum, tyre polish and that smelly stuff inside the car. the oke is done and smiles at me and says, what you think.. I laughed at him and said, wash it again, the side sills are still dirty, front fenders are still dirty, the arch lip is dirty and under the beading is still dirty.. I blew the wind of his sails.

lesson learnt, rather get up early on a Saturday morning and wash cars myself.

the problem with brasso while it is effective, might end up being too effective and can start damaging the clear coat on the wheel as it is quite abrasive.

If you used it once to clean up old stains or dirt i would still suggest getting a proper wheel cleaner going forward to maintain the wheel. Wax helps keep dirt off the wheel and allows for easier cleaning.

Just a heads up having done this same thing a few years back.

Instead of brasso, you should rather use silvo. Same product, just not as abrasive.
