Hi guys. I am having a problem with my 325i E90. Yellow then red engine temp warning came on and also fan. Pulled over. Checked coolant level. OK. Drove home. Same thing next morning. Fan switch and also hose with temp sensor, thermostat has been replaced. BMW parts. Went to fetch it this morning. Same yellow warning came up with fan on full. Switched off. Restarted and back to w/shop. No further problem. Reservoir and top hose hot. Is this a pump or electrical problem. URGENT! ! PLEASE HELP! !

It's the water pump

Hello Hoosain. Is it an internal electrical failure on the pump that is causing the warning light and the fan to come on? Sorry for the questions. I am already R7000 out of pocket. I did phone around and also did some Internet research before taking the car to this workshop and also told them that I think it is the pump and thermostat. Have you had experience with this type of problem yourself?

Check the pump.

Have the car scanned for codes.

Hello Donovan. The workshop that is working on it checked the faults and had one that said "intermittent fault on waterpump ". Have you had experience with thistype of problem yourself?

No I haven't experienced that my self but it's highly likely. Rather replace the pump as soon as you can. BMW is known for its not so great cooling systems..

A cracked head is going to cost a lot more than a water pump.

Hello Hubbleyking. Try Online Car Parts in Rand burg. They charge R4000 for the Pierburg pump. BMW is about double that.

Is that price for the n55 135i aswell?

Not sure. Check out their website. Just Google Online Car Parts. They're in Randburg
Please dont touch online car parts with a barge pole... I had a horrific experience with them for an alternator that was dead out the box and tool forever for them to get their act together... There is a thread in the forum...
