First figure out what's wrong with the motor. If BMW quoted R70k to fix it sounds like the motor rolled bearings and that the bottom of the motor needs a rebuild (crank and bearings)

The clutch replacement on that car was R45k, that's a big chunk of maintenance that won't be needed. If you play your cards right, you can have a real nice M3 for R300k my man, provided it's cosmetically perfect.

ja youre in the price range for a proper running 1. I would get a quote myself & if its R70k i would see if i could get it done cheaper elsewhere & offer R170k otherwise wouldn't be worth the effort

i seen a complete motor with 50 on clock for 75k on gumtree
to be safe count 100k to spend including unforeseen damage
I would say offer 180k for the car then u no u safe under 300k when done

If all those things were replaced and the motor is shot one can only wonder... Race car?
I would not buy it unless you want it to rebuild as a monster, but yes offer 100k is max

Any person that owns a car that they cant afford to fix WILL WITHOUT EXCEPTION neglect maintenance and small repairs. I have seen this time and time again. It is not a 70k repair to fix a badly maintained engine, more like R150k
