e90 Headlight washers

Hi guys,

I've noticed recently that my headlight washers don't retract fully into the bumper anymore. There is a 3-5mm gap between the cover plate and the bumper. A gentle push seats them properly, but surely there must be something I can grease?
Any help is appreciated.

There is a spring on the mechanism, which bmw will not sell to you seperately. Your springs are probably stretched.

I deleted my washer mechanism and sealed the caps onto the bumper.

Thanks bud. I've seen a video on washer refurbishment and its a fair bit of work, but doable. I don't think the spring can stretch as it works in compression, not tension. The water pressure pops the washer up and the spring closes it afterwards.
I like the headlight washers as a feature but they annoy me when I just want to clean my windscreen with headlights on. Turn headlights off so washers don't activate, wipe windscreen, turn headlights back on lol.

Just skip to 1/3 as the guy likes to talk.

Exactly correct, its mean for tension. Mines got stretched by bmw arc when they resprayed the bumper. There was nothing wrong with the mechanism, it just annoyed me that it didnt seat correctly and also, it would dirty the whole front of the car, hence the deletion

Yip, i disconnected and blanked off the feeds coming from the windshield wiper tank and then sealed the flaps to the bumper itself.

If you have access to iCarly, you can disable the function using its coding facility.

( I did both )
