e90 diff noise

So My diff has got a hiss. All research points to a worn Pinion Bearing, car that has covered only 130 000 km. I changed the fluid a year ago and to my surprise, only 500 ml of a thick grey fluid came out. So I guess the damage was already done. The hiss is annoying, feels like I'm riding shotgun in a Nissan E20

Research points to this car being equipped with type 168L differential, a part of me wants to order the bearings and DIY the whole thing. Has anyone rebuiltt a diff, or alternately know of a place where they can do it?

One option is to take a gamble and buy a second-hand diff from MD house (5500), change the oil and add the liquid moly diff additive, I definitely think what I'm experiencing is premature wear of the diff.

Hi Trev. What would the diff “rebuild” entail? Man hours aswell? I know you are a good DIY guy.
I think it would be cool if you could rebuild it and then do a step by step instruction guide for the members?

that's disconcerting, from research I've done it's an exact science, the gear lash needs to be set precisely using a special tool, which shop was this?

My estimate is a 3-day job, there are a few special tools I would need, such as a backlash guage , a bench with a vice

A hydraulic press wouldn't be needed.I Will give it some serious thought, it will be a nice DIY. I haven't seen any on the forum
