E90 Cluster

Gents,

I want to do this mod LED change http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1044425 ,but don't want to use my original cluster, i can get a used E90 Cluster, my question is will it be a plug and play aka remove original one put used(modded) one in and A for away or will there be any coding involved or required ?

Speak to Gert@obd worx. Alternatively...You can look at fitting the m3 cluster as I have done on my car. Gert sorted it out as well.

Heh, it's not just coding that's needed. Without going into details too much, it requires the cluster to be stripped completely in order to get access to a certain are of it to transfer vin and mileage over. This cannot be done through the can bus or obd port, for obvious reasons.

Well, that depends. I can do it but tend to avoid such jobs because of potential legal liabilities as far as mileage and vin mods are concerned. I appear to be in the minority as far as such concerns are though. From my side, i would insist that your old cluster be scrapped so you dont have two clusters with the same vin. Which kinda defeats the point of what you trying to do. Like i said, other parties are much less strict about such things than i am

Who can do it and at what price?
Surely the rest of the car will need to be done as well. To scared once you do this that nothing will be the same again. Clips ext that brakes

If the mod works out like i am planning and all is good i don't mind changing my original cluster to that of the donor cluster details.

I understand were you comming from and agree with you 100% completely.
