E90 Battery Issue

323i E90 Battery

Hi Guys
My car is starting to turn over slightly longer during the winter mornings before it fires up. This battery is about 5+ years old now, so it might be time for a new one.

I've heard many stories about how you have to take the car to a stealer so they can 'install' the battery or something to that effect, is this really true?

I'm a bit concerned as I'm planning a trip down to Clarence at the end of July, and I do not want to get stuck while on holiday.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

I've replaced the battery on my E90 330i.
Just bought a new one, removed the old battery and fitted the new one. Did not have to take the car to a dealer to clear any faults.

I managed to get the same battery that the dealer supplies at less than half the price.
PM me if you need details where I bought my battery.

Morning Vicky,

I also drive the same car as you and my battery is busy giving me issues by having the car crank slower when it stands for 24hrs or longer (slower the longer it stands and my SOC (think that is what it is called) is sitting on 60% as well).

Can you maybe pm me with the details as to where you bought the battery, assume it is a AGM one as the OEM version, and for which amount.

And hope so much that this is in Pretoria area :tiptoe:

I fit a new one from Bosch (R1.5k) a month ago, not a problem since. Old battery was draining completely if the car sat for longer than a day. Dealer price was R3.7k...no thanks lol!

You need to get the new battery registered but a lot of people don't do it and seem to do ok - the battery will probably lose some of its lifespan though.

Cost me R250 to get it registered.

I phoned Battery center and got quoted R2060 (with old battery) for a 652AGM battery from them.

Then phoned stealers :sorry: dealers for a quote and got the price cheaper for a AGM OEM version 80ah, R1867 (with old battery)

Going to phone Bosch now. I also noticed that my car's vin (coding method ) has the -B070 in it which is for a standard black battery but I have a white OEM battery 80ah 640CCA in my car, so the idiot :RedNo: before me didn't register the battery to the car and made matters worse for me. The vin should read -A080 and not -B070, hope my alternator didn't get damaged during this :tiptoe:
