E90 battery cabel went POP!

So I were driving down the road today, eating a muffin :)
So the DTC warning light came on for a second & disappeared, a few seconds later again....then the ABS light....then the parking light....
& then.... :ka-boom: noise from the trunk

Pulled to the side of the road, car didnt want to start again....nothing...
Checked the battery & the battery positive cable blew apart...put it back & off I went to Zeemax ( already on my way there as I am getting my clutch replaced )
Sounds miner but, this apparently is the unit that blows off the battery when you are in an accident & the airbags deploy, sort off a safety measure to cut power to all the electronics or something

Q: Where can I find such a cable other than the dealers which I might add is R3000
BQ: Why would this thing just think....accident....lets blow!...NOW!

I guess its worthwhile to say I had the battery replaced a week ago, I dont know if the guys maybe messed this up...BMW techie said he doubt its that but, what else? in my mind.

i remember having one of my battery cables replaced by BMW on my E92, apparently it was a campaign, it was a defective cable.

Maybe call BMW give them your VIN and check whats cutting

Well your first mistake was using Zeemax for anything more than changing wiper blades...:RedNo:

Take the car to the agents, they have to fix it for free.

How did you do that?? Do you have any pics of the cable?

Isn't the cable meant to explode in the situation there is a high amount of battery fumes in the compartment, as a safety measure, usually when the breather hose isn't attached. Possibly also a result of not securing the terminals correctly or not coding the car for the new battery.

Were holding up traffic so I didnt have time for any pics :) but the BST cable is kinda like two metal prongs tapered together & for some reason it just popped...

Will go around & check them out.
In the meantime I have contacted BMW, waiting to hear whats happening...probably wont happen but worth a try.

they are obliged to fix the issue with no charge
it is a campaign item
call any bmw dealership and ask them which campaign on your vehicle is outstanding

The campaign were for some other battery cables to the junction box etc...BMW send me all the info & stuff
The BST werent an issue in any BMW so thats not under any campaign.
Seems like im going to have to buy this one from the stealers, found a few companies overseas that does this kinda thing,OEM parts, looks better than the original & a much better design as well.
Why does everything needs to be so damn expensive here when the damn car is built here in Pretoria? Last time I checked this were local unless JZ has....I dunno...anything is possible.
