hwzt fanatics, just a quick question.i recently posted a thread where a friend had a accident hitting a rock in the road, the insurance advised they will settle the claim,
i was wondering if anyone of you ever had to fix airbags on a E90?the reason i'm asking is he want to buy back his e90 and have it fixed .problem is the driver & front passenger airbags popped, the rest of the damage is fairly easy to fix.what is the cost involved to have the airbags replaced, and who would you refer him too? all replies are much appreciated.

I think the drivers airbag would be easy to have done
With the passenger side, think this would be a bit more tricky cause it's part of the dashboard.
Just my opinion.
Saw some time back there was a guy on the Gum, selling drivers airbag

Hope your buddy comes right

Bud,

This is no problems what so ever.

the airbags attach with a few screws,

It is a sealed unit, with a two pin connector.

Perhaps you need to change the airbag module and recode, which I can do as well.

Just replace interior trim from somebody like Bemows, and bob is your grandma :)

I recon anything from 2 to 5k per airbag.

There is nothing tricky about the placement/installations, its 3 to 4 screws, that is it.

I even have somebody that can do a dash repair, does not even need to be replaced.

IMHO the insurance work on book value which drops like shyte , so a buyback at say R30K and a repair ar say R20K seems a good option . If car is not reregistered as a rebuild (code 3 ) then is is easier to sell . What about motorplan , is the car out of plan ?

if book value is R130K then buyback at 15 percent is R19.5K . and say cash of R100K , repairs at R20K and sell car in 2 months for R130K and buy another for ( R80K change and R130K from sale !! )
Keep car and put R80K into bond
