So Friday at around 3 in the afternoon Jandre and myself set off for George on a full tank of fuel. Mostly stuck to the speed limits (plus 9 km/h), and had a few slow roadworks/accident sections, but mostly free flowing which was great! Eventually we arrived in Hartenbos where we stayed over until Sunday, distance was exactly 400 km and the average consumption was sitting on 8.4 l/100 km at that point with slightly more than half tank still remaining!
Car went very well and I am impressed with the Bridgestone RFT's - the car has never been as confident and sure-footed as it was on this trip!
After going to the motorshow and a few other trips for food, and GPS purchases (we bought four, because that's how we roll)! Sunday morning we stop at Engen along the N2 to fill up - distance travelled was 635.9 km and she took 56.54 l of fuel which worked out to an overall consumption figure of 8.9 l/100 km!
My car clocked over to 60k km!!
LOL, and now probably dropped in value by R20k plus!
:nonono: :roflol:
By the time we got back to Durbanville the average consumption had settled on 9.1 l/100 km, so almost a litre per 100 km more than when we went through, but had lots of slower car to overtake as well as some of the classic cars from the show that left early, also slightly warmer than it was on the Friday.
Gave her a nice wash, and she seems to have survived the trip without any major stone chips or tar damage from the stretched of roadworks - sensible following distances FTW!
