Hi Guys,

I know this is strange but if anyone has the above and within the Johannesburg/Pretoria area i need some help.

I really need someone to take me for a drive in one. Preferably a sport pack.

I bought one and i don’t know if the 130i just spoilt me but it feels funny. I just want someone who has one to take me for a short drive just to feel if there is a problem with mine or im being paranoid.

Mine feels like its tight and holding if you know what i mean.

Strange request but if anyone can help please let me know.

He hee...

But now really, what do you mean?

When i put my foot down...It takes its time to pick up rev.....Feels dead....

I want to try and figure out if that is how the 325i moves in genral or is it just mine so i can tackle the issue before motorplan is done.

Mine feels the same :nonono:

Very sluggish to get off the line. Would love to swop cars with you for 5mins to feel if there is a difference.

Was thinking it might be timing related --> Here

But that seems to be fuel related.

I think it might have to do with the Drive-By-Wire setup of the car, and I'm seriously considdering one of those throttle booster things...

Haven't had the car on a dyno to compare power readings to stock claims, but that might be a good benchmark to start off from.

Was also thinking that the cats might be chocking up the system...

Lets meet up and swop cars. We can just drive around somewhere quiet just to check. My car has been at BMW for the past 2 weeks and i hope they dint mess something up. But will be nice to check....

Whenever you around just let me know then we can test....

I think this is how a 325i is in general, I have had 4 2.5L Bmw's and all of them were slugish off the line compared to a 328i or 330i. Strangely my steptronic 525i was the strongest of the lot.

a 325i unfortunately doesn't have allot of torque so it takes time to build up power! a budy of mine that I work with took me for a drive in his Manual 6 speed E90 325i individual and I was also a bit disapointed with the performance.

Removal of the cat's would definately not hurt though.

I want to put it on the dyno and check what it does do.

Maybe software and decat will make a big differance but will have to wait for plan to be over. Does the 325i generally make a vacuum noise when pulling off.....??

Keep in mind, cooling fro ma 130i, it might feel sluggish, bigger heavier car and smaller motor. Difference will feel even more than it would from a 330i to a 325i.

Don't think you have to worry to much about it.

My 323i was like that, but once up to speed a very nice, strong, effortless open road car.

it does pull nice after 4 000 rev from 3rd gear....But 1 2 is dead....

Seems all 2.5's does that, as I felt the same on my 323i. Wait for MP to go out, then decat, or full zhorst and branch with chip.

it shouldn't make a vacuum noise, Ive never noticed that.

1 and 2 shouldn't be dead but generally 3rd is a strong gear in the upper Rpm's but what might be happening is that your missing the feeling of torque in your lower gears that your used to in a 130i which is a lighter car as well so will pull even harder, but once your in 3rd gear at higher RPM's the feeling of torque is not as substancial but the feeling of speed comes more into play which might be confusing you.

If you have a vacuum noise that is audible within the cabin of the car I would go get it checked out, there may be a leak in your inlet manifold which would definately give you a big decrease in power!

Yip i think the 130i spoilt me. But that noise is worrying me. thats why i want to check with another 325. Its not load but i can hear it.

Maybe traction control as well! Went over a patch of sand (small patch) on the road after continuing on from a four-way stop, and lost traction on that wheel - and immediately could feel the power being dropped and rear brakes being applied.

Okay, 330i, but I would think not so much different to the 325i in terms of overall engine character...

Check both of these vids below, just the beginning of each since in both cases I gave the car wide open throttle through the rev range from standstill - admittedly not proper launches, just from rolling in 1st gear etc.

My car has this thing where if you are driving in a more docile manner is takes a few seconds for it to realise, "oh sh1t, he wants me to put on the hooligan face", and get going - but if nailing it then this is of course not a problem!

Mine somehow does the saaame thing bud:flyfun: but if u drive like a chimp is goes very nicely...think it's the ecu? Pull off from the line if u pump the rev up to about 2000rpms and drop the clutch she rockets and u see red before u know it! But will be doing my cats soon, hope this helps it?

I'm from jhb so if you would like we could test them out?
