I am not a car reviewer or journalist or any such thing.

I would just like to do a small write up to see if I am simply mad or if my experiences with cars has been limited. since this is what I suspect I will probably find out that I am right.

My first car was a Ford Lazer 1300, category 3 vehicle my dad got and passed on to me. Nice little car i thought, stained back seats, even more so later on... I cared little for consumption or performance in my student years so that left there. I worked for a company whilst studying and thus was required to drive their delivery van.. The Toyota stallion 1.8.... what a junker.. i progressed on to a Toyota tazz 1300 for many miles, solid runner and not much in the terms of performance.

on to the more professional years 2011, I bought brand new a Hyundai accent 1.6 I was quite impressed with the smell of the new car. Not much else. Handling was weak to me, and the performance for a 1.6 really wasn't what i expected. maybe it was just me.

i progressed on to bigger vehicles in 2013 personified in the shape of a 2.5tdi hard body. Not the high rider type the lower govmt looking model. i was very lucky when i saw the speedo pass 140km/h.

The Nissan Navara 2014 was the follow up to the hard body. I did like this vehicle, even for its bulky size it had decent performance for a diesel and being a 4x4 it had other advantages, but alas it was not to last after the 3rd head gasket and warped block the warranty said no more and i was driving the 2011 Honda ballade 1.5 for the foreseeable future...

Until now whereas it was time to once again trade in i decided after much deliberation from my mechanic friend to get the BMW 320d e90 2011.

From all the cars that i have owned- (Which arent many) this is by far my favorite. i have never felt this type of handling, acceleration or torque in any of the other vehicles I have driven. Its a car I feel good in. (Its a big plus that the car is a looker). i hope i am not sounding vain but there is a heritage in this vehicle brand that seems to be passed into the very leather of the steering wheel.

I have never been this impressed with a car before and honestly i don't think i will ever move to another brand of vehicle.

my 2c

Welcome. Nice write up.
Very hard to leave the bmw stable once you've caught the bug.. You're going to be in a 330d before you even know it :fencelook:

You will be happy with the 320d. I had a 2012 E90 320d which I traded in only last week with 65 000 km on the odometer. Sure the next owner will love it as much as I did. It had absolutely no issues during the 4.5 years I was the owner.

I agree whole heartedly to all your replies so far.

Never had so much fun driving a vehicle... but in come the questions also:

How do you know what "M" modifications are on the vehicle? there is an M strip in the door arch, and an m badge on the steering wheel, though I don't know what exactly they are referring to?

how do you check?

Put up a few pictures of the car and our resident experts will let you know everything about it... or VIN number.

That usually means that your car has the M-Sport package fitted.

You can type in the last 7 digits of your VIN below to see the full spec list of your car:

I recently sold my 2011 E90 320d and I understand your sentiments, its absolutely astonishing in the real world, feels so solid, looks good in M sport , perhaps has the best consumption in its class and does daily and long distance effortlessly. it really is a fantastic vehicle, oh and in the 2 and half years I've owned it, it hadn't skipped a beat.
If I hadn't bought the 330d and sold mine to my brother I would have had some serious regrets...
