E89 whine in reverse

Hi all

2014 sdrive 20i with 53000km

In reverse I’m picking up a higher pitch noise than what I’ve experienced on other vehicles I’ve owned. Granted they’ve been front wheel drive cars.

I’m almost certain I can feel a slight grinding when letting off the throttle too while in reverse.

The car is at the dealers for a starter replacement at the moment so I might as well ask them to check it out if it’s abnormal.

Research has shown me that:

In reverse the car uses straight cut gears and the noise is normal.

According to the dealer it’s normal for the torque converter to whine a bit.

Guess that answers my question.

I was going to suggest that the flux capacitor was installed backwards possibly? :fencelook:

It’s quite possible. As a result I can’t hit 88mph in reverse and got to before I signed the contract
