E87 130i Not Starting After Battery Replacement

A week ago I noticed that the battery was flat. I jump started it from the front and it started. I took my car in for repairs last week Monday (they fitted new doors) and it started, but I could hear that the battery was flat. The indicator on the battery showed that it was insufficiently charged. I notified the panel beater and he said that he would charge the battery. When I fetched my car on Saturday, the car wouldn't start, even with a loan battery from the panel beater. I had to push start it. I replaced the battery today, when I insert the key, the lights on the dash come on ok and the radio everything, but when i push the start stop button the car wont start. It won't even crank up. There are no warning lights. I checked the battery terminals and fuses, everything was fine. The starter was still fine before I replaced the battery.

Is the new battery not a dud?
Check the voltage of the battery with a multimeter and see...

Dof question, but you are pushing the clutch in when trying to start?

Otherwise it sounds like the replacement battery is also dodgy. Also make sure all wires are connected to the battery in the boot.

I bought a Genuine BMW battery from Battery Centre. It shows green. All the electronics work, so it's not the battery. We tested the voltage and it was fine

Yes, I pushed the clutch in all the way, I even tried the brake. Checked all the wires, no corrosion or faults. The new battery is a genuine BMW battery.

This happened to me on my e90 330i, had just bought the car and a week later the battery showed signs of it last laps, drove to a battery place, changed the battery, left and drove 3km to my gf house and 2 hours later the car wouldn't start.... Finally got it kick started and it turned out to be the starter... But that's my story...

Will your car kick start?

Don't these cars need to be reset/coded when replacing the battery?
Was this done?

Yes, I can kick start it and then drive without any problems. I called the dealership, the parts manager informed me to go and get my old battery from the battery centre and see if my car would start. That would be pointless as the old battery is dead.

I guess something else to check is whether the Enegry rating - Amp Hours (AH) of the replacement is the same as what should be fitted.

Otherwise, I suggest reading the fault codes. Perhaps there is a problem somewhere . even the IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) is failing.

If the car can kick start then it's either your starter or your starter button....

Get the codes read, my car had a fault related to the starter stored in the dme...

I would have the codes read. If it's not even trying to turn over, then unless the battery is really a complete dud, something else if going on. New battery needs to be the same Ah rating as the original battery and when it was fitted ideally it should have been registered so that the IBS charging knows that there is a newly fitted battery.

Hope you get this sorted out!

Hallo Biramannen , if pressing start and all electronics shows signs of dimming, lights in cluster actually goes off, it would be your battery, otherwise , check your starter.
