Eben,
Does she smoke from the moment you start her up? if not, then it's not valve stem seals but rather the pressure regulating valve. Send me your questions. My e mail is [email protected]. Heads up, the warranty will not pay the amounts that it is going to repair anything on a 745i because of the limits.

I have top-up warranty, I already had the regulating valve placed at BMW zambesi its wasnt that, the smoking starts when idling for a while BMW suspect the valve seal seaping oil slowly through when idling, I had all the other things checked and all points to this. So I just need to find a mechanic willing to do the work as BMW wont open the engine up and they cost way to much anyway, I would like to do the headgasket at the same time so I eliminate this.

Also my battery keeps draining, I leave the battery switch to "Off" BMW replaced the battery with a new one they said the old one was faulty only to still have the same problem...

Oooooooh...2002.

Is it using oil?

EGR?

In fact yes it is using oil, but was guessing because its leaking oil through the valve into the exhaust?

Whats your thoughts on this?

Hi Eben

Not really an expert here. But it can also be possible for a failure of the crankcase vent valves on top of the engine to cause this type of problem. But most articles will suggest that it is in fact the valve seals.

Let us know if you manage to get her fixed
