Anybody have any idea ?
Should be a normal ATE,

If you close to Pretoria, call Willem 012 751 7243,
I paid R900 for new front discs, + pads for my E46 325i, so maybe he can help you. :thumb:

Should be a normal ATE,

Got my last set of fronts and rears from Bemow in Pretoria. Tell the guy to look in the shelves at the back of the shop.

Hi Guys, Call Dave at Sun Distributors in Strydom Park - good prices for discs and pads. E65 pads range from R420 to around R650 (ex Vat) depending on front or back and Brand ATE & Ferodo) 011 7053411 - he'll get parts if he hasn't got stock. Good luck with the servicing.:thumb:

Got a set of pads, put it in no problem.. but now I have one.

I left my laptop connected to the car, and by my own stupidity I will admit, forgot to turn off the ignition.

I then got to figuring while I have the backs off, I may as well take of the front and wash the wheels properly, which I duly did, all the while the ignition stuck on.

So by a stroke of genius, I let the battery drain flat. Fair enough.

All I want to do is to take the car out of park so that I can push it properly into the garage where I can close the garage door, stick it on trickle charge for the night, and go have a nap....

Possible... so not happening, by what logic is a car forced into park, I cant engage the shift lever unless the car is started (note started and not just on). I phoned BMW on call, who said... "eish....." and cant find anything on the web...

Any advice....

Ok, 50 odd minutes of heavy duty charge meant I could get her started and moved 2m forward, so car is in garage and will be on trickle charge for the evening.

I did find some indication that aparantly under the instruments, there is a panel, and inside the panel there is a red lever thingy that allows you to bypass both the gearbox lock as well as the parking brake.... Luckaly I did not need to use it....

Damm but this car has a huge battery...

By the way, first DIY on the E65, man this thing is solidly built, methodical and logical... I also did some work on the POS Golf 5 today... lets just say, I am not amused...

Hi Leonard,
Do you have the OBD cable for 745i? I need to reset airbag fault... Not a difficult car to work on. My mechanic took my motor apart and put it back together, no problems.

I just put in a set of cheap pads.

Messi, cost me about R510, fitted them myself.

You dont need imported Ferodo's in the rear, the brakes hardly work, I would never skip on front pads though...

But I sold the car (theoretically), should finalize the deal today.

More details please?

I just saw your other thread, no further explanation needed :excited:
