So thats who I got the obscure call for a alternator from on sunday

As said, starter and alternator exchange.

You can have yours refurbed as well..

tried the guys, they don't have... do you know anyone who can refurbish in pretoria. BMW want R16k for a new one....

Clutchy imported one for his E39 the other day, but only cause his exploded.

I am sure that any auto electrical could help you out, its either the rectifier or something, whats the make of it.

What makes you suspect altenator ?

Out of Experience Zaleonardz. The wight of the inside is to heavy so refurbish it only extent the problem for a short time, but you will end up with the same prb again a small time further in the ferture. I had 3 Bmw in the past with all tree doing the same.
So its beta to get a new one and you no you good to go for 10years further unless he wants to sell the car then fix it.
