E65 730d

Hi all, I recently just bought a used e65 730d that I've loved for so long. There's a few issues though, it sometimes won't start and will start when a mechanic comes with a machine to reset/synchronize. This has happened a couple of times already leaving me stranded for hours. The parking brake also fails and must be reset/synchronized. Any ideas what could be the issue?

Do you know what he is resetting or resynchronising or what the error code is that the car is throwing? The parking brake can be reset/adjusted at BMW but not sure what that costs when the car is out of plan (I doubt it costs much).

Where are you based then perhaps someone can point you to a good workshop?

Hi, thanks for your response. I really don't know what he's synchronizing but I think the computer box was replaced with a second hand one as the key sometimes takes time open/lock, some radio speakers most of the time don't work, telephone simcard slot doesn't pickup the sim also. I'm based in the Jo'burg south area.

Handbrake is a mechanical failure, known fault

Speakers are an amp failure, known fault.

Regarding the no start issue, it would be good to find out exactly what is being done, but most likely its a synchronization between CAS and the DME.

WHat year is the car, 2002 to 2005 ?

Which means your life is going to suck.

I would get this car to Gert from OBDWorx.

You need to look at CAS module,

Congrats on the 7er and welcome to the forum.

The pre-facelift E65's are known for the above issues, and more. I hope she's not too troublesome for you.

Thanks. Well @ the moment it's just been those issues. I'm looking to trade it in for a facelift model.
