After many diagnostic attempts, the source of my transmission leak was finally put down to a worn bush. However, the 'box is now changing erratically... I have now opted to replace the gearbox altogether (a good, used one will have to do). I have also been advised that I need to fork out more 'bushels' for more bushes and arms (practically the entire front suspension). I have no qualms about the spend, given that I actually 'enjoy' driving my E60....until I hopped in to my E55 (which I haven't used for over 3 years). The performance and economy on my E60 is satisfying. Today have I realised that the power trade-off from the E55 (in traffic and letting loose whenever possible) to my E60 is a no-brainer. Yes, my E55 has stupendous power delivery, but my 530d trumps it by the sheer scale of economy and relatively good power delivery (I have not seen my E60 fuel consumption range remotely close to my attached pic, even in the 1st couple of kilometres after a full reset).
My bucket list for my E60;
New turbo (it has a whine since about 120k, currently kilos circa 175k)
New tyres...again
Some interior trim pieces...(Yes, I know...I loaned my car out)
Revamp the rear end
New Brake pads and fluid flush and replace
Wishlist
IPod and Bluetooth interfaces
Steering wheel replacement
Rim replacements (current rims need a lot of work. The snag is only rims of 19" upwards can be used...I was the smart alec that 'upgraded' my braking system to that of an E60 M5)
Sound upgrade..hopefully I could get the OEM upgraded sound package from a salvage unit.
Alter the exhaust tips for exhaust fumes/smoke to exit from the under side of the car, instead of straight out back.
Replace my lights with the LCI lights
Sort out discoloration of the front armrest
